SOA “a common business language” – SAP

In his keynote speech at the Paris Sapphire event SAP CEO Henning Kagermann described service-orientated architecture (SOA) as “a common business language”, reports IT Weekly.

SAP has described mySAP ERP 2005 — the latest version of its enterprise resource planning application — as a “milestone release” paving the way for the wide spread adoption of enterprise SOA.

At Saphire, Leo Apothekar, president of customer solutions and operations at SAP, claimed that SOA would “double productivity at the minimum” and enable a five times faster speed of adoption.

Gartner hosts enterprise architecture summit

IT research firm Garner is hosting a summit focusing on enterprise architecture from 27-28 September in London.


Gartner says its Enterprise Architecture Summit is a showcase of enterprise architecture successes with insights from practitioners in those leading organisations as well as best practices from Gartner`s Enterprise Architecture analyst team.

US DISA awards SOA governance contract

The US Defence Information Systems Agency has awarded a contract for $1 million to Merlin Technical Solutions to provide SOA governance products for the agency’ ’ s Net-Enabled Command Capability (NECC) and Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) initiatives, GNC reports.

Greenwood Village, Colorado-based Merlin Technical Solutions is functioning as an integrator under the DISA contract, using SOA management tools developed by Systinet, a division of Mercury Interactive, Systinet is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Merlin and Systinet will provide the first federated development and certification environment pilot node to DISA’s NECC and NCES programmes. The pilot is being built using the Systinet 2 governance platform.
