ACB in $2m data centre deal

Ho Chi Minh City-based Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) has introduced the project of building a new data centre worth $2 million, with IBM partnering in the information technology plan, reports Saigon.

The Enterprise Module Datacentre, to be situated in the Quang Trung Software City in District 12, aims to standardise the fast expanding banking group's IT infrastructure, ACB says.

IBM and Vietnam's Asia Information and Communications Technology Company do the work of design, architecture and construction of the data centre, which is set for completion in four months.

Avaya buys audio solution vendor

Avaya is bulking up its audio collaboration capabilities with the $15 million acquisition of Swedish company Konftel, reveals eWeek.

Through the deal, Avaya gains Konftel's portfolio of conferencing solutions, in particular its OmniSound technology, which optimises the audio in conferencing sessions. Avaya executives say they plan to bring Konftel's technology, including OmniSound, into their Avaya Flare Experience UC (unified communications) initiative unveiled in September 2010.

"The acquisition of Konftel represents a logical step in Avaya's drive to lead in business collaboration," Alan Baratz, senior vice-president and president for Avaya's Global Communications Solutions business, said in a statement.

Salesforce seals $31 Dimdim acquisition

Salesforce, the enterprise cloud computing company, has revealed it has completed its acquisition of Dimdim for approximately $31 million in cash, net of cash acquired, states TMC net.

With the acquisition, Salesforce gains Dimdim's real-time communication technologies, along with a team of world-class developers experienced in building cloud-based collaboration services.

Salesforce will use the acquisition to bring new real-time communication capabilities to the Chatter collaboration platform, mirroring the proven Facebook model of combining collaboration and communication into an integrated service.
