Bytes Communication Systems is pleased to announce the local availability of the new Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6250 family of layer2+ Fast Ethernet stackable LAN switches.
The OmniSwitch 6250 family is designed to cater for both enterprise and Metro Ethernet access. The enterprise models are intended to meet the needs of small and medium-sized enterprise edge and branch office environments, while the Metro models address residential and business Ethernet access supplied by service providers.

The OmniSwitch 6250 family is the evolution of the current Alcatel-Lucent OmniStack 6200 Stackable LAN Switch product family, embedding the latest technology and AOS innovations. They are ideal for the edge of both small and medium-sized networks, branch office enterprise work groups, and residential and/or metro Ethernet triple play applications. The 6250s also support scalable, real-time voice, data and video applications for converged networks.
OmniSwitch 6250 switches run the same AOS as the other OmniSwitch products and are fully manageable by the intuitive Alcatel-Lucent CLI, WebView browser, the OmniVista network management system and the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM).
A small form factor and very low noise output make them ideal for collocation environments, and low power consumption and cooling costs assist in the reduction of operating expenses, resulting in a faster return on investment.
