Madge has announced details of its High Speed Token Ring (HSTR) strategy together with its full endorsement of the new HSTR Alliance. HSTR forms a core element in the support of Token Ring user in the new Millennium "HSTR, which will initially be deployed in the backbone, is set to revolutionise corporate Token Ring networks," said Madge Africa`s Nick Hughes Technical Manager. "Users will be able to dramatically improve their networks performances scaling their Token Ring speed to 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps and beyond-without having to change the existing Token Ring infrastructure." He said Madge had committed to deliver a complete HSTR product line during the second half of this year. This will include: 100 Mbps modules for the award-winning Smart Ringswitch and SmartRing Switch Plus backbone switching solutions. A 4/16/100 HSTR adapter for high performance servers. HSTR uplinks for future Token Ring switches.
