Dell launches ProSupport suite of services in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya, 28 Oct 2008

Dell announced the launch of its globally consistent after-sales services, delivering on customers' requests to make available the wealth of cutting-edge technology, knowledge and the highly skilled support base in Kenya.

By investing in spare parts that will be available in Kenya, providing telephonic diagnosis by the Dell worldwide technical support centres and providing onsite services through the company's authorised services partners, Dell can deliver on the company's core focus of “Simplifying IT”.

“We are introducing Dell's core philosophy of simplifying IT to our Kenyan customer base, the objective of which is to make a fully-functional, highly reliable ICT environment both more affordable and less of an overarching concern. Dell can, if the customer desires, literally take care of their ICT needs, presenting the customer with the opportunity to distil its ICT costs to a single supplier's bill,” said James Thurston, Head of Services, southern Africa.

Dell's philosophy of listening to the needs of its customers has propelled the global brand to review every service portfolio and offering while addressing the challenges that cause customers frustration, increase costs and add to the complexity of their IT environments.

Said James: “Our customers in Kenya can now handle their Dell-based ICT environments in the exact same manner as customers in the UK or US markets choose to and, as the brand behind this simplification of IT, we will back them up with the same levels of expert support, rapid hardware diagnosis and replacement, and a comprehensive umbrella of value-added services as we do in the more mature markets. We have heard our customers' needs and responded with force to ensure that we meet these calls.”

As the Kenyan economy, and most notably its ICT sector, continues to experience rampant growth, global ICT powerhouse Dell is moving to support this rapid expansion.

Now Kenyan customers, whether home users, small and medium enterprises, government or divisions of a major multinational corporation, can reliably source all the components needed for a complete ICT infrastructure built on Dell's highly reliable, cost-effective product line up and, adding to this physical hardware, a basket of industry-leading support solutions tailored for their unique needs.

The net result is a complex, fully-managed ICT infrastructure at an attractive price point. The process will be managed through a single point of contact and distilled down to a single payment at point of sales.

Such a simplified environment has already been the reality in more mature markets across the globe for several years, and now Dell is extending this modular, simplified services model to its Kenyan customer base.

“Consistency of customer experience is really key to us at Dell. It shouldn't matter if this customer is in New York or, indeed, Nairobi; their interactions with Dell on a daily basis should enjoy the same levels of committed response. This is exactly what we've now built in Kenya, and the launch of this service offering makes this globally-consistent and highly satisfying user experience of the same high standard wherever your offices may be located,” explained Stewart van Graan, Dell southern Africa General Manager.

These computing solutions are designed single-mindedly around driving down the overall costs of ICT by simplifying customer interaction with the global brand and delivering the exact computing capability that is required by the market segments in Kenya.

Comments Mark Ridley, regional sales manager, Africa: “We can now move ahead with deploying the full might of Dell as a global brand into the Kenyan market, and deliver to our clients the turnkey solutions they need to run a business which is optimised towards riding the crest of this tidal wave of growth.”

Products that are designed to meet the requirements of home users, small and medium enterprises and large corporations will also be introduced simultaneously.
