Global software testing company Inspired Testing has launched a new training academy – the Inspired Testing Academy – along with a series of new mentorship programmes for companies wanting to upskill their staff in test automation and performance testing.

Created by Sastri Munsamy, Executive: Technology and Innovation for Inspired Testing, the practical, hands-on programmes cover every level of technical testing capability with no prior automation or performance testing skills or software development experience required.

What makes the Inspired Testing Academy unique?

  • Fifteen-plus years' experience consolidated into mentorship and coaching programmes.
  • Mentoring and collaboration by technical specialists, sharing experience, knowledge, lessons learned and best practices.
  • Practical, hands-on and relevant course material, helping teams keep up with technology innovation.

"The Inspired Testing Academy is for businesses who see themselves as pioneers in technology, who understand the importance of keeping their teams empowered, upskilled and relevant. This mindset is critical in the technology-driven world we live in today," says Munsamy.

“Software systems, Web platforms and business applications are becoming increasingly complex, with more features added almost daily, and in many cases, all this software is still being tested manually, if at all,” he says.

“We noticed a pent-up demand from many of our clients to upskill their staff with the necessary tools to automate testing as much as possible, and also optimise the performance of their systems through testing going forward – the same services we’ve been providing them as a company for over a decade. So, we took the knowledge and resources at our disposal and created a framework through which we can transfer these skills to our clients as seamlessly and effectively as possible.”

The new automated testing programme is split into three phases:

The performance testing programme is available as an introductory course.

“Test automation and performance testing requires programming skills that most testers don’t currently have, while most of the software developers with these skills, don't want to be testers,” says Munsamy.

“The mentorship programmes covers every aspect in detail, from knowing when, what and how to automate and how to test the performance of these systems under an estimated user load, to creating targeted Java scripts using the industry-standard open source automation tool, Selenium, as the development environment. Students will need to complete each phase before advancing to the next, thereby gaining all the required skills – both theoretically, but mostly practically.”

Munsamy says the mentorship programmes are ideally suited to:

  1. Testers wanting to learn or upgrade their test automation and performance testing skills; and
  2. Developers wanting to consolidate their existing skills.

“To stay relevant to their companies, both testers and developers have to start showing proficiency in test automation and performance testing or risk being left behind,” he says.

“Never before has this need been more apparent than it is now, with the economy expected to struggle to recover from the coronavirus crisis, competition will accelerate significantly and new skills will be in far greater demand.”

Both the automation and performance testing mentorship programmes are available now through a virtual classroom and remote instruction. For more information, or to sign up for the next available programme, e-mail Munsamy at smunsamy@inspiredtesting.com.
