IT managers' chief concerns for the coming year include servers, storage and networking issues, Gartner reveals, according to Zycko,

A survey of industry professionals' expectations for 2008 finds that data storage features a number of times in the top 10.

Servers and storage technology is the highest data-related topic to make the list, closely followed by issues such as addressing technical infrastructures and updating legacy environments to incorporate the latest products and services.

IBM expands storage reach

IBM has signed agreements with Ingram Micro, Tech Data, and Synnex, under which the three will distribute the N Series products and work with IBM to recruit new solution providers to the line, reports CRN.com.

IBM's N Series includes nearly the entire hardware appliance line of NAS and SAN appliances Network Appliance.

IBM distributes its N Series products through Arrow Electronics and Avnet Technology Solutions.

Emulex, Cisco, VMware partner

Emulex has announced the availability of a storage networking solution that runs on VMware virtualisation infrastructure, and incorporates Emulex LightPulse host bus adapters, Cisco MDS Fibre Channel switches and VMware ESX Server 3.5, reports CNN Money.

The new offering leverages industry-standard NPIV to provide customers with the functionality to maintain storage area network best practices, while delivering improved data protection capabilities.

Additionally, Emulex has teamed with Cisco and VMware to integrate NPIV functionality into VMware VMotion technology.
