Brilliant Business Systems, a Softline company and the sole distributor of accounting software vendor Intuit's products in Southern Africa, today announced the launch of QuickBooks 2002 Pro.

As part of Brilliant and Intuit's commitment to providing innovative accounting software solutions, annual upgrades of QuickBooks Pro will be released. As a result, QuickBooks will label its package based on year and not sequence. QuickBooks 2002 Pro is thus the next edition from QuickBooks version 9.

QuickBooks has over 3 million users worldwide and the latest version of the award-winning QuickBooks accounting software is based on in-depth customer research conducted over the past year. The 2002 version contains a number of new features and improvements allowing small businesses to better manage their finances through increased efficiency and control.

QuickBooks 2002 Pro is designed to bring complete financial management capabilities to small business owners with minimal accounting experience as all processes are automatically compiled within the system. "QuickBooks 2002 Pro is extremely easy to learn and has all the features to enable SME businesses to spend less time on their accounting processes and focus more time on running their business," says Tanya Miranda, director at Brilliant.

Additional features of QuickBooks 2002 Pro include:

  • .         Archive/Condense Old Data: With the new archive process, users are able to archive old data files, condense or remove closed or deleted transactions, as well as create summary transactions from archived data.

  • .         Automatic Journal Numbering: QuickBooks 2002 Pro gives the user the option to have sequential, automatic journal numbering.

  • .         Improved Find Feature: Allowing faster searching for information on customer and purchase data, invoice numbers, and customer contact details.

  • .         Improved Customisation of Forms: QuickBooks 2002 Pro users can customise standard accounting system forms with their company logo.

  • .         Paid Stamp on Invoices: When an invoice has a payment received against it, the account is automatically earmarked. The system creates a 'PAID' bitmap image, which is visibly displayed across the invoice, similar to a physical 'PAID' stamp in a paper accounting system.

  • QuickBooks Pro comes in single-user, two-user and three-to-five user options. Businesses can therefore choose the user option right for them and upgrade as their business grows.

To ensure users receive maximum benefits of the upgrade, Brilliant has provided a number of service benefits to the purchase of QuickBooks 2002 Pro including, a free morning training course in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban; one year free telephonic support from QuickBooks experts at Brilliant; a 60-day unconditional money-back guarantee on the product; an upgrade voucher for previous QuickBooks users and a free, one-year subscription to Brilliant Payroll - a complete, easy and accurate payroll solution with free telephonic and Internet support.

"Statistics from BMI-TechKnowledge confirm that the small and medium enterprise (SME) market played a major role in the international economy by contributing 35% of last years GDP." says Miranda. "These results show that the SME market sector is a valuable revenue contributor and as a result, it is imperative that SME organisations ensure their financial functionality is up to date and of the utmost quality. QuickBooks 2002 Pro will allow SMEs to keep effective control over financial and accounting practices."

QuickBooks 2002 Pro will be available from 4 May at Incredible Connection and Makro stores countrywide.
