Magix Security beefs up governance and compliance in mobile environment

Magix Security appointed as MobileIron reseller.

Johannesburg, 23 Apr 2012

MobileIron (www.mobileiron.com), the innovator in enterprise management and security for mobile devices and apps, has appointed Magix Security as reseller to the South African market.

MobileIron was purpose-built to manage the risks and threats companies face as their business data moves to a smartphone environment.

“IT departments are struggling to find a balance between letting users make their own choices about the devices and apps they need, and having enterprise-class management and security. With MobileIron, they don't have to compromise on either front,” says Bob Tinker, CEO, MobileIron. “We are excited about the growing business prospects in the South African market and are very pleased to be working with the team at Magix Security to help customers realise their mobile enterprise strategies.”

Magix Security will be selling, implementing and supporting the MobileIron platform so that customers can support both corporate- and individual-liable devices. The platform offers true multi-OS management across all of the leading mobile OS platforms including Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Windows Phone.

“As employees of South African companies become more mobile, and use smartphones and tablets to carry out their daily duties, there is a corresponding increase in risk to the company. The MobileIron platform helps companies manage their risks and protect critical information from falling into the wrong hands through the mobile environment,” said Phillip Gerber, MD of Magix Security.

South African companies are under increasing pressure to ensure they take all necessary steps to protect data, whether it sits on the company network or while it moves around the network and into a mobile environment.

“The MobileIron platform provides an added layer of protection and governance for companies. It helps to protect data, the business, its reputation, as well as shareholders and customers,” concludes Gerber.

Currently available from Magix Security, the MobileIron platform enables IT departments to support multiple operating systems, secure enterprise data on both corporate- and employee-owned devices, and build and deliver mobile apps.

MobileIron features include:

* Mobile Device Security
This provides companies with visibility into what's on a smartphone and how it's being used, letting both IT and users better secure data and control costs without compromising privacy, even on employee-owned phones.

* Bring-your-own-device (BYOD)
This allows employees to securely use their own mobile devices at work and protect their company. While this allows companies to reduce costs, the real value of a well-designed BYOD programme is increasing employee satisfaction and productivity, while speeding up the rate of technology adoption in the enterprise.

* Enterprise Mobility
Enterprise Mobility allows companies to gain true multi-platform management of industry-leading mobile devices like iOS, BlackBerry, Windows, Android and Symbian. IT administrators are empowered with both visibility and control of corporate data.

* Wireless Expense Management
Wireless Expense Management offers companies access to real-time voice, SMS and data usage, including full visibility into operator performance data. MobileIron's solution gives IT, finance and the end-user a detailed view of phone usage and cost drivers such as international roaming.

* Mobile App Management
This provides an integrated ability for the management of mobile apps for business users. MobileIron's built-in Enterprise App Storefront provides both the tightest security and best end-user experience for the distribution and delivery of mobile applications across the enterprise.
