Loophold Security Distribution, the local distributor of SonicWALL's advanced intelligent network security and data protection solutions, is helping to secure the mobile workforce with SonicWALL's free Mobile Connect app for Android and iPhone.

Mobile Connect provides users of Android and iOS-based smartphones and tablets with superior network-level access to corporate resources over encrypted SSL VPN connections. With the app installed, mobile users can access these resources across SonicWALL appliances, including the SonicWALL Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW). These solutions and applications will be showcased at the forthcoming ITWeb Security Summit, in May 2012.

“As the workforce becomes increasingly mobile, devices like smartphones and tablets help to enhance productivity on the go. However, they can also introduce malware into the corporate network, either inadvertently or intentionally, and therefore must form a part of network security policies. Companies need to have the tools in place to manage security for these and other mobile devices, both inside and outside of the corporate network,” says Martin Tassev, MD at Loophold Security Distribution.

The Mobile Connect app, when deployed with or alongside a SonicWALL NGFW, encrypts traffic, while the NGFW decontaminates threats, viruses and malware from smartphones or tablets over SSL VPN before they can enter the network. As smartphones and tablets enter the internal corporate perimeter and connect via WiFi networks, the SonicWALL NGFW scans traffic to ensure devices comply with organisational security, application control and content-filtering policies.

The ITWeb Security Summit and Awards takes place from 15 to 17 May 2012. For more information and to reserve your seat, please click here.

A key feature of the Mobile Connect app is End Point Control (EPC), available only on the SonicWALL Aventail E-Class SRA Series. For smartphones and tablets running Mobile Connect, EPC identifies specific device attributes and ensures that these attributes are met before allowing the device to connect to the network. EPC can also determine if a device has been jail-broken, removing built-in security enforcement, so that connections from compromised devices may be rejected or quarantined.

Using SonicWALL NGFW technology and the innovative Mobile Connect app, organisations can maintain stringent security standards while their employees travel outside of the protected perimeter, thus enabling greater workforce productivity. With Mobile Connect, users and organisations can also be protected while travelling and accessing networks from public hotspots or over 3G/4G connections.

The SonicWALL Mobile Connect apps for Android, iOS, iPhone and iPad are available immediately as free downloads from the Android Market and the App Store.

Loophold Security Distribution and SonicWALL will be showcasing their solutions and expertise at ITWeb's Security Summit, which takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre between 15 and 17 May, and will feature presentations relating to trust, and the need to reassess the standard approaches to IT security. This year's theme is: “Reinventing information security: When trusted technologies have failed”. For further information, click here.
