LSD joins Hortonworks Partnerworks programme

Johannesburg, 08 Mar 2016

LSD Information Technology, a young, dynamic Linux and open source consulting firm, has become a partner of Hortonworks by joining the Hortonworks Partnerworks program. Hortonworks, based in California, is the leading contributor and provider of Apache Hadoop for the enterprise.

Apache Hadoop is a framework that allows for the distributed processing of big data sets across clusters of machines. Hadoop enables businesses to quickly gain insight from massive amounts of structured and unstructured data.

Sven Lesicnik, MD at LSD, says partnering with Hortonworks is just one of the ways LSD is constantly improving its offering so it can provide its customers with the very best open source has to offer. "Hortonworks is one of the leading Apache Hadoop distributions that customers are using to greatly enhance and improve their insight and BI capabilities."

He adds the partnership between LSD and Hortonworks will give LSD's customers access to building integrated, enterprise-ready, big data solutions to leverage the benefits of Hadoop.

"Our aim is to enable our clients to use Apache Hadoop to harness the value from the new, multiple sources of data that are drowning the enterprise. Organisations will be able to load and drill down into the plethora of data sources, many of which are not being effectively utilised today. Once analysed, the insights derived from that data will enable them to make the best business decisions possible."

He adds that with the coming of Internet of things (IOT), the data is only growing, and business are looking at ways to analyse that to enhance decision-making abilities. "Working with Hortonworks, we will guide clients on the Apache Hadoop journey, and show them how best to leverage these technologies to create new business value from their big data."

Lesicnik adds his organisation has witnessed the exponential growth of big data over the past few years. "Combined with myriad new devices and technologies hitting the marketplace, there is understandably confusion on how to benefit from the big data resulting from this explosion. Our goal is to work with our customers to offer real guidance on how to get the most from their big data, and make more informed decisions accordingly."
