Golden Lions ruck and roll with IT support from Netsurit

Not only has outsourcing to Netsurit cut costs and improved efficiency, it has also helped to ensure the continued success of Lions Rugby.

Ellis Park Stadium, home to the Lions rugby team, has outsourced its IT services and support needs to Netsurit for more than 12 years, helping the organisation to stay focused on its core business.

When IT manager Suzette van der Merwe joined Lions Rugby in 2007, Netsurit was providing only remote support for the business. Because there were no IT specialists on site, Van der Merwe often found herself attending to general IT problems and assisting other employees with their IT-related needs, which took up a big portion of her time.

“With proactive IT support, strategy and consulting from Netsurit, we streamlined our IT operations, increased productivity and contained our costs,” she says.

“When Netsurit placed a half-day resource at Lions Rugby, a huge, positive difference was noticed with the trouble-shooting and managing of IT issues,” says Netsurit technical support specialist Kyle Osler. “The network immediately became more stable as it was being monitored and managed proactively. Staff also had quick and easy access to help, which increased efficiency in the offices.

"But it’s peace of mind on game days that has made a massive difference. The problems that the stadium previously experienced during matches declined once the infrastructure had been streamlined and the entire IT system was maintained and tested on a regular basis.”

“Netsurit assumes and manages much of the risk for us, thanks to the team’s specific industry knowledge and expertise,” says Van der Merwe. “When you have a large public-facing business like ours, and one that is accountable to large numbers of fans and supports, you simply cannot afford to have network problems. Not only has outsourcing to Netsurit cut costs and improved efficiency, but it has also helped to ensure the continued success of our business.”

Looking ahead, Osler says he and his team at Netsurit are in the process of taking Lions Rugby into the cloud. Not only will this cut costs even further, but it will allow the coaches and stadium management to be more productive and have access to the right information at any time, anywhere in the world.
