RTT Intelligent Logistics has successfully implemented the Acronis cross-platform backup solution on its main physical and virtual production servers. The new backup platform replaces several systems from other vendors.
Acronis Backup Advanced provides RTT with the ability to use a single universal cross-platform technology architecture to backup, migrate and/or restore any physical or virtual servers across RTT's heterogeneous environment.
"Because of its specialised operational requirements, RTT's systems are heterogeneous, spanning RHEV and Hyper-V virtualisation platforms, numerous physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers, as well as a number of critical Microsoft SQL Server systems and a Microsoft Exchange Cluster, all of which required image-level as well as application-level backups to both disk and tape," explains Nick Mayer, Senior Operating Systems Manager at RTT.
The Acronis technology provides RTT with the ability to backup and restore any system, whether physical or virtual, and quickly restore or migrate it to any other physical or virtual system on any of the major hypervisors, whether Hyper-V, RHEV, VMware, Citrix, XenSoft or Parallels.

An important requirement for RTT is to deliver high-value data protection capabilities that create new revenue streams, without the need for substantial capex or opex investment. To this end, RTT's IT Department rigorously tested several solutions to back-up its virtual and Exchange 2013 environments.
With Synapsys Systems and assistance from reseller Miosa 24 who assisted with the proof of concept (POC) and testing, RTT chose Acronis Backup Advanced as the optimal solution for RTT's infrastructure.

Acronis Backup Advanced for Exchange cluster is a key component of the solution RTT put in place by automatically protecting RTT's Exchange Server cluster and ensuring mailbox protection and recovery, any time," RTT's Mayer says. "Acronis Backup Advanced offers minimal backup times and business continuity while running backups, as well as seamless integration with RTT's Hyper-V cluster and Exchange 2013 online archive backups."
Since the initial deployment, the RTT IT team has been technically trained and certified on Acronis Backup Advanced and has deployed the solution to its network. A case study has also been published.
