Reditron, previously known as Norbain SA, and the leading supplier of CCTV, access control and related electronic security systems in South Africa, was in need of a system that could enable the sales people to effectively get access to intelligence across large distances, but also allow them intimate access to central control at head office. Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition fits Reditron perfectly as a proven solution for mid-market customers that want to grow their business, cost-effectively.

Reditron supplies an extensive range of security solutions from internationally acclaimed manufacturers, and is the largest buyer of CCTV equipment in the world.

The company recently launched its new security camera brand, called Rediview, and also offers technical support and advice on product installations and system design, as well as on-site and hands-on technical training on its range of products. The company is based in Gauteng, with offices in Port Elizabeth, Durban, Nelspruit and Cape Town.

Reditron had been a Sage 500 customer for 10 years and the company had grown to a point where they had to move to a product which could accommodate this growth.

It required an enterprise resource planning system which could facilitate and enhance the sales of its brand into the South African market. "We were looking for a solution that would enable our sales consultants countrywide to produce online quotations at current prices. The ability to manage the product warranty system without having to resort to product development or add-ons was imperative, as well as a seamless link to customer relationship management programmes and ad-hoc systems such as e-commerce," says Reditron's CEO, Jan de Lange.

Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition provides a predefined, yet adaptable, implementation framework to customers who are interested in the deployment of an ERP solution within a reduced timeframe, utilising standard business processes.

Reditron placed its trust in software solutions provider, Argon Business Solutions, to facilitate the implementation of Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition. It has already implemented more than 300 ERP systems, and its consultants, who have attended regular Sage ERP X3 training courses, have the necessary skills for using any type of methodology, from standard implementation through to advanced development.

Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition is aimed at the growing business that requires a cost-effective ERP solution. "Standard Edition has nothing removed from it. The full core functionality of Sage ERP X3 was made available to Reditron and was successfully implemented, using Sage's standard methodology, with customising certain elements," explains Andy Cutler, Argon Business Solutions Managing Director. "The client still has the added option of expanding and enhancing their ERP solution, as the company grows, by simply tapping into the existing features of Sage ERP X3, using minimal IT resources."

By following a 'train the trainer' methodology, Reditron's sales consultants received training on the new system directly from Argon. This approach contributed to the successful implementation, as the technical Sage ERP X3 team could then focus on ensuring that the transition to the new system ran smoothly.

De Lange says: "We have used Sage's quality assurance program to audit the implementation and we are satisfied that everything went smoothly. Sage ERP X3 provided a platform for Reditron to effectively manage stock and workflow, ensuring up-to-date pricing and making our sales processes more streamlined and efficient. It also formed a stable platform for additional ad-hoc systems such as e-commerce, payroll and staff management. Sage ERP X3 has made it easy for us to grow because as we acquire more companies and products in the group, there was not a need to rebuild or reconfigure our systems, and operational efficiencies and ease of workflow was possible."

"One of the major challenges facing ERP solution providers today is the implementation of an ERP solution within a set timeframe and within the initial budget expectations. Sage ERP X3 Standard Edition was able to meet this challenge by offering Reditron the same fully functional ERP suite at a fraction of the cost," says Keith Fenner, senior vice-president for sales at Sage ERP Africa.
