Grant Marais' VAST Networks has selected WirelessG as its latest WiFi partner in SA.

SA's first open-access WiFi network, VAST Networks, has partnered with WirelessG to provide a better WiFi experience for G-Connect customers.

Commenting on the collaboration, Grant Marais, CEO of VAST Networks, says: "WirelessG is one of the oldest players in WiFi in South Africa and we are pleased they see the value of using our open access network to grow their own business and brand.

"With the launch of WirelessG, it validates that VAST's open access principles benefit both the ISP providing the service but importantly their customers benefit from the scale of our footprint across the country," notes Marais.

Jan van der Nest, managing executive of WirelessG, adds: "VAST Networks is busy changing the WiFi hotspot landscape in South Africa and WirelessG is extremely excited to be a part of this venture. We are pleased to announce that all our G-Connect WiFi customers will be able to use their WiFi bundles on the almost 2 000 VAST hotspot locations from this point forward."

According to Van Der Nest, the partners are aware of how frustrating the login and authentication process is when a customer visits a WiFi hotspot. "Together with VAST Networks, we have reduced the number of clicks a G-Connect customer goes through to authenticate and access the Internet."

"The relationship underlines VAST Networks' commitment to providing users with the best WiFi experience in the country. A common ubiquitous platform means more choice for consumers wherever they may be," Marais concludes.
