SAB and ECnet - brewing an online winner

South African Breweries, probably one of the most popular and recognisable brand names in our country, have just launched Leisureways, their online store.

Leisureways (www.sabcentenary.co.za), offers a unique opportunity to those who have ever partaken of the famous brewers wares, to purchase exclusive SAB collectables and merchandise without moving from a monitor or mouse.

Leisureways is commerce-enabled by ECnet, a member of the electronic commerce division of information technology specialists PQ Africa. In addition to ensuring secure, easy online shopping, ECnet is also responsible for order management, online customer service, record keeping and the switching of the transactions to banks.

Through the services of ECnet, which eliminates the technological complexity and security concerns associated with online transactions, SAB has enhanced their customer service by making merchandise available for order via the Internet.

The Web store is being run on a non-profit basis and was launched in partnership with the Self Help Association for Paraplegics who will be responsible for distribution of the online orders.

SAB identified a demand for beer collectibles and the online store now enables them to reach their customers globally, at an affordable cost. The range on offer consists of SAB memorabilia including branded shirts, caps, beer labels, coasters and bottle tops.

Darren Jenkins-Ferret, Systems Developer of SAB says, "I believe that, through our online shop, we are re-affirming a commitment to be responsive to our customers using every medium available."

"The Internet is burgeoning and Web commerce is no longer a future fantasy. It is here and fast developing into one of the most powerful revenue generators for a broad spectrum of businesses. With competition for sales becoming tighter by the day, it is imperative for organisations to ensure their products are effectively marketed through all possible channels. Leisureways (www.sabcentenary.co.za) will reinforce SAB`s position and ensure they reach existing and potential consumers through the most efficient online channel," says ECnet marketing director, Paddy Gray.

In addition to ElectroShop, ECnet is responsible for commerce enabling over 30 of South Africa`s top Web stores, ranging from The Incredible Connection, retailing computers, to Cigafrique selling a range of cigar merchandise.
