Avnet introduces programme

Avnet Technology Solutions has introduced Channel Optimization, a three-phase, year-long programme designed to improve partner profitability and enhance the skills of partners' C-level executives, says eChannelLine.

"We really wanted to enhance our value proposition with our partners," said Cheryl Neal, director of marketing for Avnet Technology Solutions Americas' Enterprise Software and Storage Solutions group. "Better CEOs run better businesses and better businesses generate better results."

Neal explained that for the programme, partners go through an online channel analyser diagnostic tool and answer a lot of questions about their company, about how they focus on services and different unique things about their business.

3i appoints Gridz

Global technology solutions and services provider 3i Infotech has appointed Gridz as the Middle East "master distributor" for its ORION Advantage and ORION Lite ERP solution, says Al Bawaba.

Gridz is a business solutions organisation, offering IT solutions and consulting services.

3i Infotech is SEI CMMI Level 5-compliant for its software business and ISO 9001:2000-certified for its IT infrastructure services and business process outsourcing operations.

BSA sues companies

Industry onlookers have questioned the Business Software Alliance's (BSA) approach to conducting software audits after two channel firms were hit with court orders, says CRN.

The BSA applied for court orders against RedPC Services and Overclockers earlier this month for suspected use of illegal software. The BSA claims both companies failed to respond satisfactorily to requests to undergo a software audit.

Najeeb Khan, vice chair of the BSA's UK Committee, told CRN: "We tried a number of times to mediate and find an amicable agreement through diplomacy, but we had to apply for a court order."
