Attix5 founder Danie Marais says Redstor will incorporate Attix5's African roots into its message and vision post-acquisition.

South African software developer Attix5 has been acquired by UK cloud service provider, Redstor, for an undisclosed amount. The deal comes after a 10-year relationship between the tech companies.

"The acquisition of Attix5 brings to a close one of the longest running courtships in history. We have been trading with Attix5 since 2005 and have always enjoyed a strong relationship," says Redstor CEO Paul Evans.

Redstor says the deal will help transform the cloud backup and disaster recovery software and services provider into an international software and services business through leveraging Attix5's strong global footprint.

Attix5 founder Danie Marais says the acquisition opens great opportunities for both companies but will not see Attix5 losing its identity.

"Over the 10-year partnership, both parties have come to understand each other's business and have developed strong relationships. The owners at Redstor also appreciate Attix5's African roots and want to incorporate this as part of their message and vision going forward.

"I believe Attix5's software development expertise and Redstor's data management experience and strong partner and customer relationships is the perfect fit and I expect great things for these organisations going forward," adds Marais.

Redstor says a big drawing point was Attix5's "robust and highly secure technology", as well as its global customer footprint within the cloud backup, disaster recovery and storage services market.

Evans says the acquisition gives the opportunity for Redstor to evolve by gaining its own intellectual property.

"[Expanding] our geographical footprint was a natural step that will allow us to have greater control over our future development."
