There are rumours that Finnish handset manufacturer Nokia is working on a new flagship smartphone, the Lumia 928.

The Lumia 928 is said to be Nokia's next premium Windows smartphone following the Lumia 920, which was released to the South African market in November 2012. The Lumia 920 brought with it a significant upgrade to the Lumia line, with Nokia claiming its 8.7MP PureView technology camera was its key differentiator to the market.

An image of the proposed Lumia 928 was leaked by tech leak tweeter @evleaks, presenting the device in black and on US network Verizon.

According to theverge.com, Verizon is planning to unveil the handset this month and Nokia is said to use thinner polycarbonate on the Lumia 928, while reserving aluminium frames for future Lumia devices. It was, however, reported earlier this year that Nokia would be switching to an aluminium design for its high-end 920 and 820 handsets. The Verge also reports that the phone will have a new Xenon flash, in addition to the 920's LED unit.

Looking at the specification, ubergizmo.com says the Nokia Lumia 928 is rumoured to have a 4.5-inch OLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory. It is also thought to be marginally thinner than the 920, by 10.2mm. The device will reportedly have 4G LTE.

Nokia SA does not want to comment on the rumours or speculation about the Lumia 928.
