HP unveils SME networking solutions

Hewlett-Packard has released new communication, collaboration and networking solutions for small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs), says Indian Express.

The company also introduced server and storage solutions that enable SMEs to efficiently protect data and manage operations. These include three new ProLiant scale-up servers and seven new ProLiant G7 server blades, which offer 1TB of memory and integrated 10Gb Virtual Connect FlexFabric technology for input/output scalability.

According to HP, these offerings enable SMEs to streamline communications and operations while deploying more efficient routes to market in order to expand business opportunities.

ECI Telecom, BT plan next-gen network

Israel-based ECI Telecom, a global provider of networking infrastructure equipment, has won a crucial superfast broadband ISP infrastructure building contract with BT Openreach worth £528 million, reports ISPreview UK.

Under the deal, ECI Telecom will work with BT Openreach, which is responsible for ensuring all rival operators have equality of access to BT's local network, to bring a large-scale 'super-fast' next-generation access broadband solution to the UK.

Openreach will deploy ECI Telecom's Hi-Focus multi-service access node to help it roll out 100Mbps FTTP and 40Mbps FTTC broadband ISP products countrywide. The solution supports multiple telecom providers through the same access fibre loop, allowing BT to deliver 'equivalence' to each communications provider for their individual bandwidth needs.

Malaysia Inland Revenue upgrades network

Malaysia's Inland Revenue Board (IRBM) expects to reclaim bandwidth as well as increase efficiency in the delivery of its voice, video and data applications to more than 10 000 employees with solutions from Blue Coat Systems, according to MIS Asia.

IRBM principal assistant director, Suhaini bin Jusoh, said the government agency has rolled out 55 PacketShaper appliances from application delivery networking firm Blue Coat Systems in more than 40 branch offices throughout the country.

"IRBM has visibility into the applications running between the branch offices and powerful quality of service controls to prioritise and protect latency-sensitive voice over IP sessions," said Suhaini.
