NEC continues expansion

NEC, a provider of network, IT and identity management solutions, will continue to introduce new optical networking solutions to deliver revenue-generating value to the carrier community into 2008, according to Business Wire.

This expansion comes as NEC looks to proactively address network infrastructure changes, as next-generation networks (NGN) continue to shift toward IP-based technologies that support fixed and mobile telephony, video broadcasting, and business networks.

NEC is expanding its Herndon, Virginia campus, and announcing new operator migration solutions and progress in 40G/100G transmission solutions.

Juniper broadens portfolio

Juniper Networks downplayed the impact of the US slowdown on its revenue and profitability as it launched a range of switches, marking its entry into a new segment in the networking infrastructure business, says Economic Times.

The company's CEO Scott Kriens said he has not received any indications of reduced spending from his customers, which includes service providers such as AT&T and British Telecom.

With the introduction of a new line switching products, the company has broadened its portfolio, which consisted of routers and security products.

3Com introduces OSN

3Com, a provider of secure, converged voice and data networking solutions for enterprises of all sizes, has introduced its Open Services Networking (OSN) applications delivered on its new MSR Series Multi-Service Router platform, reports Albawaba.

3Com OSN is the industry's first open platform to integrate best-of-breed and open source applications into the fabric of the network infrastructure.

OSN is a key element of the company's next-generation secure, converged networking strategy to drive even greater application integration directly into the network infrastructure.
