Cyber crime is always a threat for businesses and governments. But the threat escalated during the COVID-19 lockdown, when working from home became the “new normal".

Cyber crime is potentially very costly for businesses: the 2017 WannaCry ransomware attack cost an estimated hundreds of millions of dollars for businesses around the world, including in South Africa. In this podcast, several Webber Wentzel experts discuss several issues relevant to business in managing the risks associated with cyber crime, including necessary security measures, privacy and POPI, insurance and the legal consequences of a breach of data.

Webber Wentzel’s legal experts featured in this episode: Warren Hero (information technology), Karl Blom (regulatory), Dario Milo (crisis & reputation management), Kim Rew (insurance), Caroline Theodosiou (insurance) and Priyesh Daya (dispute resolution).
