LSD joins CNCF, becomes a Kubernetes Certified Service Provider

Johannesburg, 22 Apr 2021

LSD OPEN has joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and has become a Kubernetes Certified Service Provider (KSCP). Kubernetes is the beating heart that powers our open source and cloud-native digital accelerator solutions (the LSDtrip). Admission to the CNCF as a certified Kubernetes service provider is a pivotal moment for us on this journey.

Cloud-native and the CNCF

Cloud-native technologies empower organisations to build and run scalable applications in modern, dynamic environments such as public, private and hybrid clouds. Containers, service meshes, microservices, immutable infrastructure and declarative APIs exemplify this approach.

These techniques enable loosely coupled systems that are resilient, manageable and observable. Combined with robust automation, they allow engineers to make high-impact changes frequently and predictably with minimal toil.

What does this mean for LSD?

This is a big deal to us and something that the team has been working towards for a long time. We are now part of an international community of technology creators, users and innovators that discuss and develop ideas to drive cloud-native adoption. We were early adopters of Kubernetes, and have been architecting and operationalising production Kubernetes environments for our clients for many years. We’ve also built and integrated many CNCF projects into our cloud-native accelerator, the LSDtrip. Being part of the CNCF extends our reach beyond South Africa and adds recognition to our cloud-native solutions and skills. The membership gives us the opportunity to connect with other cloud-native technology and solution providers to learn, collaborate and share our ideas and expertise.

What does this mean for our clients?

First off, if you're using LSD (the company) at work and we’re helping you to modernise with Kubernetes containers and other cloud-native technology, it proves you’re in the best hands. Secondly, it means that our people and solutions are now backed by an official certification for the technology. Additionally, we will be working and collaborating in open source communities at a global scale to bring you the best in integrated cloud-native solutions as part of the LSDtrip.

LSDtrip

Companies know they need to start this cloud-native journey, but they don't know where to start, what technologies to use, what skills are required, or even who to hire, and they certainly don’t have the time to figure this all out.

We’ve seen these problems time and again, so we created an engineered framework to accelerate the adoption of cloud-native, focusing on containerisation, automation, observability, streaming, security and connect. We call this collection of solutions the LSDtrip.

LSD

LSD was founded in 2001 and wants to inspire the world by embracing OPEN philosophy and technology, empowering people to be their authentic best selves, all while having fun.

LSD is your cloud native digital acceleration partner that provides a fully managed and engineered cloud native accelerator, leveraging a foundation of containerisation, Kubernetes and open source technologies.

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation seeks to drive adoption of this paradigm by fostering and sustaining an ecosystem of open source, vendor-neutral projects and are the custodians and hosts of global technology infrastructure like Kubernetes, Prometheus, Envoy and many more. The foundation brings together the world’s top developers, end users, and vendors and runs the largest open source developer conferences, including KubeCon and CloudNativeCon.
