Simfy Africa has unveiled an easy-to-use and always-accessible music streaming service, customised for South Africans.

The sign-up service will go live on 27 August and anyone who pre-registers before then stands a chance to win one of 100 six-month accounts.

Membership includes access to 18 million songs - with an average of 500 000 new songs being added monthly - unlimited streaming, mobile apps and a portable device sync experience.

Simfy Africa is a partnership between European streaming provider, Simfy and local digital content company eXactmobile. The service can be accessed through a laptop and on up to three mobile devices, including tablets, for R60 a month. Customers of all mobile networks can pay via their mobile phone accounts, credit cards, direct debits or EFTs.

The mobile and desktop apps allow subscribers to listen online or offline, reducing data charges, while the system can also be used through a docking station, car stereo or any Bluetooth speaker connection.

Through this service, subscribers will be able to find the latest releases across any genre, branded playlists from favourite artists, music magazines and automatic updates of new material. They can listen, download and share any of these playlists to discover and explore the latest content.

Davin Mole, CEO and co-founder of eXactmobile, says: “Over the past 12 years, eXactmobile is proud to have achieved some remarkable feats in helping to shape the way South Africans consume digital content, especially through mobile.

“However, it is no exaggeration to say that everything we have done to date has been a warm up for the main event. As early as 2005, we anticipated that, with the way the Internet and mobile phones were evolving, there would be an innovative way to consume music,” he says.

“Therefore, to be on the very verge of this introduction, which we know will dramatically change the way South Africans consume music in the years and decades to come, is a very satisfying milestone for eXactmobile,” adds Mole.
