Businesses want to focus on what they do best and maximise the usage of their existing resources - data, apps, infrastructure and services - while making investments in new cloud and mobile services.

So says Ulli Reyneke, cloud, analytics, mobility, security and social leader at IBM South Africa. Reyneke will present at the IBM Hybrid Cloud Forum, scheduled to take place on 25 March at Summer Place in Hyde Park, Johannesburg.

Her topic - "Introduction to building, managing and securing a hybrid cloud infrastructure" - will explore the core elements of IBM's hybrid cloud point of view, which is centred on three focus areas.

"These focus areas are portability, visibility and control, as well as developer productivity. Within the three focus areas, there are a further five key elements that really demonstrate key business values of our hybrid cloud offerings, namely: operational visibility and control, integration, extended portability, data services and localisation, and seamless delivery.

"These elements will enable our clients to achieve and create value from universal hybrid clouds that are open by design, flexible, scalable and secure," says Reyneke.

She adds organisations want to build new services and application programming interfaces to allow new mobile apps to securely access data, apps and services where they are most optimally placed, whether that is in public, private or sitting in-house.

This forum will provide insight into how IBM systems and professional services can assist in deploying a private or hybrid cloud.

"The key is that this isn't just about individual pieces or where you put your workload. It's about a new hybrid cloud. It's all about rapidly recomposing businesses across traditional and modern applications to create unique value to their customers," says Reyneke.

This event promises to be a valuable learning experience with high-level talks from experts in the field explaining how to build an enterprise-class IT environment with hybrid cloud technologies. Register now and learn how to reduce or mitigate risks with IBM cloud security solutions and services.
