IBM unveils predictive analytics tool

IBM has revealed its latest predictive analytics software, which it claims is able to correlate and analyse big data - turning it into the sort of insights businesses can use in every day decisions, ChannelBiz reports.

The software can generate insight in “a matter of seconds”, the company says. It can also analyse the impact of social networking channels and feeds this back into decision-making.

Organisations will be able to use the technology to comb over data in business processes, like claims processing, marketing and fraud detection.

The new Analytical Decision Management software, as IBM calls it, is aimed at end-users rather than any specific data analysts, Computer Business Review writes.

IBM says it will help end-users to improve their decision-making by presenting them with the next-best action.

In an interview with V3.co.uk, IBM global industry solutions leader Colin Shearer said this offering is targeted at customer services representatives.

“If you look at any large organisation, there are operational decisions that need to be made millions of times each day, like the decision to grant someone a loan, to decide on what treatment to give a patient, and so on,” said Shearer.

Shearer said the new software brings together a mix of search technologies, content management and analytics. He described the new offering as a Watson technology for the average business - a reference to IBM's quiz show winning supercomputer.
