Trend Micro has added South Africa region to the portfolio of its value-added distributor,  Westcon-Comstor.

Already a partner with Trend Micro for Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, Westcon-Comstor is tasked with expanding its coverage and opening up new markets for the cyber security solutions company.

Trend Micro says that over the past two years it has invested significantly into growing its presence and reach across the African continent. The security giant has been focusing on its channel, expanding its reach, and equipping its partners with the skills and tools to support its portfolio of cloud, network and endpoint security solutions.

Indi Siriniwasa, VP for Sub-Saharan Africa, at Trend Micro says customers across Sub-Saharan Africa need a value-added distributor who is agile enough to adapt to moving market trends. “To date, the Westcon-Comstor team have made great inroads across the continent, taking our enterprise security solutions to its channel and investing in developing the internal resources needed to support our reseller base.”

He says it made sense to expand Westcon-Comstor’reach into SA, an area Trend Micro is  seeing extensive growth in.

“With more of the hyperscalers such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform and AWS, with whom we are partners and our solutions are aligned, pegging a stake in the ground in SA, it is even more critical to ensure our channel has the skills to support the end-user customer,” adds Siriniwasa.

Rakesh Parbhoo, CEO of Westcon-Comstor says cyber security is a massive challenge around the world and Africa is no exception. The demand for robust cloud-centric security solutions that provide protection from the datacentre to the edge and through to the cloud is growing, he adds.
