Westcon-Comstor has introduced a Johannesburg Shared Services Centre (JSSC) in a bid to create job opportunities.

The centre will act as a support business, providing financial skills to the rest of the subsidiaries in the group.

"JSSC will act as an incubation hub for skills upliftment and job creation as we strive to unlock the true potential of every person," says Rakesh Parbhoo, CEO of Westcon-Comstor Sub-Saharan Africa.

The team at the centre is trained on the global systems and processes employed by Westcon-Comstor, so that the offices in Europe, Middle East and Africa can use the JSSC team to leverage skills in the areas of finance and other international operational support roles they might not have internally.

Throughout the recruitment process, the JSSC has aligned with Westcon-Comstor SA's objectives around corporate social investment, skills development and equal opportunities for previously disadvantaged individuals. A large majority of the appointments were unemployed youth and graduates seeking employment in the finance area.

The establishment of the centre also enables Westcon-Comstor to achieve certain aspects of its broader B-BBEE strategic objectives.

"The creation and growth of the JSSC is an important next step in the company's global strategy to deliver excellence in internal and external processes," says Parbhoo.
