Internet security solutions provider Check Point Software Technologies has launched its Connectra NGX product in SA, an enhanced version of its SSL VPN solution.

Niall Moynihan, Check Point technical director for Northern Europe, visited SA to promote the product and create awareness about the group`s broader range of Internet security solutions.

He says the NGX offering, the latest security software platform for Check Point firewall, VPN and management solutions, delivers a unified security architecture for perimeter, internal and Web security.

This platform, he explains, offers hundreds of new features and extended functionality to over 20 Check Point products, including VPN-1 and FireWall-1.

Moynihan believes South African companies are starting to pay more attention to the importance of security as a business enabler and many are becoming more comfortable talking about large security deployment.

"Many organisations are starting to see these type of solutions as not a security cost, but as a business cost, realising they cannot afford to be offline," he says, adding that there has also been an increased focus on laptops, whose mobility is becoming a security concern.

In addition to secure remote access, Connectra provides assured endpoint security with integrated Integrity clientless security, Moynihan says. This feature scans each client computer for viruses, Trojans, spyware, adware and other malware and only allows "clean" computers to establish network access.

He says enterprises of all sizes can reduce the cost and complexity of their network by having a single point of management for their entire perimeter, internal and Web security infrastructure, while ensuring all critical applications, such as VOIP or ERP, are protected from ever-evolving threats.
