BCX has again partnered with ITWeb Brainstorm for its annual Women in Tech Forum, to be held on 8 August in Houghton, Johannesburg. The all-female forum was first held in 2013.
Women’s Month is a time for reflection on the issues facing South African women, and for the past five years, BCX and Brainstorm have hosted a debate on how to advance gender equality in the technology sector.
This year’s event looks at how more women can be attracted to the tech sector and how to ensure that they move into leadership positions, helping drive the 4 Industrial Revolution.
“The Women in Tech Forum is a platform that we believe can be used to positively contribute to the ICT sector,” says BCX chief marketing officer, Mandisa Ntloko-Petersen. “This forum raises awareness around the role women play in ICT, while devising concrete ways to strengthen the female pipeline for the industry.”
Devi Govender, host of Carte Blanche and award-winning investigative journalist, will be the keynote speaker. Govender has gained a reputation for being fearless in her stories highlighting corruption and crime.
Teresa Oakley-Smith, MD of change management consultancy Diversi-T, will be one of the panellists at the forum. She works with employees from all races, genders, culture, language, age and religion, in order to develop mutual respect and enhance productivity and profitability.
