Blue Turtle takes wrapper off AI-driven SOC offering at ITWeb Security Summit

Johannesburg, 23 May 2022

Optimisation of the security operations centre (SOC) is a sure-fire way to help organisations meet the challenges of the growing volume of cyber security threats and the lack of security skills head-on. According to Blue Turtle Technologies, this will be the core emphasis of its discussions at the ITWeb Security Summit 2022. It will talk to attendees about how they can efficiently and effectively augment the actions of their people with their technology processes to build better, more robust, artificial intelligence (AI) infused security frameworks.

“When trying to mitigate IT security risks, organisations often get bogged down with the technology itself. Whereas if they were to optimise existing technologies, centralise these in an SOC environment and select solutions to fill gaps in the process, they could pool people, process and technology to navigate security threats better," says Ronnie Koch, Product Manager Security ICS Practice at Blue Turtle.

"Working with customers, we develop a go-to-market strategy centred on optimising their SOC and stringing together a host of relevant technologies that then become the solution to their security challenges," he adds.

According to Blue Turtle, effective security starts with an organisation understanding its security posture and identifying where it can plug gaps before an exploitation or breach. It's a crucial step in populating and operationalising threat intel to ensure that all potential vulnerabilities are being protected against.

Once these security gaps are closed, a company can better protect their critical services, and the SOC can respond to these automatically and dynamically. Unfortunately, legacy security systems that work in silos with blinkered processes simply can't deliver on this, which creates the argument for AI-driven automated and active cyber defences.

"The security revolution requires a completely new way of thinking. It would help if you asked your IT partner what features of their proposed solutions work one step ahead of current threats. Many legacy solutions just aren't adapting quickly enough, which is why at Blue Turtle, we pride ourselves on finding the gold nuggets in security vendors. Vendors who aren't afraid to leverage AI and machine learning and are building automated solutions that are constantly developing and adapting to the times. The end result is that we can and are building AI-driven SOCs for our customers,” says Koch.

Blue Turtle will be showcasing its unique set of vendors and its AI-driven approach to the SOC from 31 May to 2 June at the Sandton Convention Centre for the Johannesburg leg of the 17th annual ITWeb Security Summit, as well as 6 June at the Century City Conference Centre for its Cape Town leg of the event.

“StrikeReady offers a unified and collaborative platform that learns from institutional knowledge and best practices in real-time and makes it available through an AI-based security analyst for empowering security teams.”
