Konica Minolta magicolor 2400w business opportunities for would-be entrepreneurs

Johannesburg, 28 Nov 2005

Konica Minolta and developments in colour laser printer technology have combined to provide business opportunities for budding South African entrepreneurs.

"Innovation from small to medium enterprises is critical if we as a nation are to achieve the 6% GDP growth required to eradicate unemployment in South Africa," says Robin Mowatt, Business Development Manager: Printers, Itec South Africa.

"Konica Minolta`s recently launched magicolor 2400W colour laser printer provides a number of exciting opportunities for those looking to start up their own one-stop print shops," he added.

The new printer provides low cost, yet highly versatile, on-demand print-in-colour facilities. This enables the business concerned to print short-run business cards, brochures, reports, business proposals, or similar documents, at high quality.

"The magicolor 2400W prints onto many different printable media such as envelopes, thick stock paper for business cards, transparencies, laser printable vinyl decals and gummed labels, making it the ideal one-stop colour laser printer."

These colour documents can be professionally finished with a wide range of GBC document finishing products available from Beswick Office Products, sole distributor of the GBC products for South Africa.

These finishing products include the new revolutionary IBIS Click Binding system which works something like a zip, and the Trimmer, Scoring and Perforating in-one machine, the four-roller high quality laminating machines, or the standard laminators and binders.

"Services from the one-stop print shop can even be extended to on-demand mouse pads with full colour photos printed on them, or pictures onto t-shirts, award plaques, coffee mugs, trophies, or puzzles," Mowatt added.

These services are made possible through collaboration with The Magic Touch South Africa, which specialises in heat transfer papers for laser printers.

"While each application requires a different type of paper, there are specific papers that have been tested in Europe for the Konica Minolta magicolor 2400W," says Mowatt.

"By integrating a good PC with software such as CorelDraw 12 and MS Office, a magicolor 2400W, a heat press, and/or cap press, and a moderate range of finishing devices, one can set up a business like this for under R35 000," Mowatt adds.

"All it takes is the collaboration or partnership between a few different companies to allow this combination to work successfully. Each product distributor has worked together to ensure the compatibility of the complete system," Mowatt concludes.

Konica Minolta laser printers are distributed to IT dealers by TVR Computers (011) 807 1390, ITEC SA (011) 236 2000, The Magic Touch SA (011) 450 3191 and Beswick Office Products (011) 433 2686.
