ITWeb's BI Summit & Awards

More information about the ITWeb BI Summit & Awards, which takes place on 23-25 February 2009 at The Forum in Bryanston is available online here.

ITWeb's fifth annual Business Intelligence (BI) Summit will run from 23 to 25 February next year, at the Campus, in Bryanston.

Following the success of this year's conference, which hosted over 250 delegates, ITWeb will debut the ITWeb BI Excellence Awards 2010.

According to ITWeb, the awards are dedicated to promoting excellence in BI in SA, and are open to end-user organisations that feel they have a BI success story that deserves recognition. A panel of independent experts will judge the candidates.

The conference will feature BI experts addressing issues surrounding data governance, emerging BI technologies, integrating BI with business process management, geospatial data, and the impact of service-oriented architecture.

BI drives decision-making

International keynote speaker, James Taylor, CEO of Decision Management Solutions, will run a post-conference workshop to discuss the potential BI has to improve business decisions.

BI is critical to meet business and financial performance objectives, according to analysts, and companies need to become agile in tough financial times by using technologies that put them ahead of their competitors.

As the recession leads to IT budgets being slashed and projects and acquisitions being put on hold, BI tops the list of important technologies for 2009, according to global research firm Gartner. The firm predicts BI will continue to dominate IT leaders' agendas in 2010.

Gartner says the coming year will be about balancing cost, risk and growth. Worldwide IT spending will return to an upswing in growth in 2010, and is expected to reach $3.3 trillion, a 3.3% increase from 2009.
