SAP, BluePencil look to meet growing demand for SAP skills in Africa

Johannesburg, 26 Mar 2014

On the heels of SAP Africa's recent announcement of an agreement with the World Bank to consolidate skills development efforts in Africa, SAP Africa Education has further committed to help increase the size of the resource pool of trained SAP professionals in Namibia, by appointing enterprise training provider BluePencil as a SAP authorised training partner (ATP).

In addition to Education Services, BluePencil will offer its full range of solution offerings to customers in Namibia, including: application life cycle services, mobility, projects, resourcing, change management and support services.

"We have found that many customers are looking for assistance with the implementation and use of SAP Solution Manager - an area in which we are local market leaders," states Willie Botha - Business Development Manager at BluePencil.

BluePencil classroom and e-learning training includes SAP technical, functional and industry-specific information as well as SAP Academy courses.

Bernadine Jeffrey, Channel Manager: Education at SAP Africa, says this partnership will help grow the number of skilled ERP professionals on the continent. "We believe this partnership is the start of what will prove to be one of the most effective SAP training outfits on the continent. SAP skills are highly sought after and we are now able to increase the resource pool of trained professionals in the African region," she said.

Together with its partners, SAP Africa Education and various educational institutions will continue to collaborate on joint initiative programmes, mentorship support and training opportunities to fulfil the growing demand for SAP skills in Africa.

"The extended reach that SAP education has with its Education Channel Partners gives us the ability to provide quality an convenient offerings to areas where the economies of scale previously prohibit this; we are glad to partner with BluePencil to make this a reality in Namibia," states Gerhard Alberts - Africa Education Director.

"We are excited about the prospects in Namibia and are positive that, working together with SAP, we will be able to meet and hopefully exceed customer training requirements in the area," says Samantha Snyman - head of Education Services at BluePencil.

"Namibia represents a new growth area for our services and we are proud to add this market to our geographical scope," says Steve Hobbs - Managing Director for BluePencil.
