Interactive projectors are moving from the classroom to business meeting rooms

Johannesburg, 01 Apr 2016

Interactive projectors are expanding their reach from educational settings into businesses, with companies from a range of industries using them to spur collaboration and enliven their presentations. These projectors turn any wall into an interactive surface - perfect for engineers, architects, software developers and other professions needing to discuss complex content in an engaging and interactive manner.

That's according to Shaun Robinson, Epson product manager at Tarsus Distribution, who says that interactive projectors combine the roles of ultra-short-throw projectors, interactive whiteboards and paper flipcharts into a single product.

Products such as Epson's EB-1420Wi and EB-1430Wi projectors are interactive systems designed for ease of sharing ideas in business meetings or classrooms. These 3 300-lumen projectors deliver a bright, high-quality, 100-inch image in all light conditions, with a design that minimises shadows and glare.

Using the dual pens that come with the projector, two people can annotate a presentation simultaneously using different pen attributes. The EB-1430Wi also features intuitive finger-touch annotation.

The projectors' wireless capability enables content to be shared from a range of smart devices using the Epson iProjection app. The whiteboard sharing functionality allows meeting participants to view and annotate whiteboard content from a range of PCs, tablets and mobile devices, without the need for any special software or app.

The same image can be annotated remotely, with the multi-location function enabling up to four networked projection systems to be connected at the same time. And, with the split-screen function, a multi-source video conference and presentation can be viewed simultaneously.

The EB-1420Wi and EB-1430Wi feature the Epson 3LCD technology, which blends colours before they are projected, resulting in a stable image with no risk of colour breakup. All Epson projectors have equal White Light Output (WLO) and Colour Light Output (CLO), which enables them to deliver brighter images, more accurate colour, clearer detail and the flexibility to present in different light conditions.

"The new projectors feature all the usual features and functionality of a good short-throw projector, paired with great functionality for collaboration," adds Robinson. "They enable companies to make do with one simple and affordable device rather than needing a projector as well as an expensive interactive whiteboard."
