EfficientIP, a leading provider of DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM), and Khipu Networks, an award-winning cyber security company, today announced their commitment as partners to protecting customers across South Africa from DNS threats and malicious hacking. Both company's solutions help organisations across all market sectors to guard against growing vulnerabilities, as well as integrate advanced network infrastructure.
The DNS protocol is essential for Internet functionality, but also vulnerable, as it is typically void of the right countermeasures put in place to prevent or mitigate security breaches. Organisations can no longer rely on traditional or legacy security solutions (which can include firewalls) for the most-attacked network protocol. The answer is to deploy a dedicated DNS security solution that evaluates DNS traffic and payloads from within the DNS itself, as well as taking a hybrid approach to DNS architecture by mixing multiple name server technologies to eliminate single point of failure.
David Williamson, EfficientIP CEO, looks forward to providing these innovative security solutions: "The addition of KHIPU NETWORKS to our partner group has been key to bringing new adaptive security solutions to their customers. The past two years have seen a dramatic increase in cyber security attacks, and DNS has been confirmed as being a weak point of the network infrastructure. We have the solution for this in our 360^0 DNS Security, and Khipu has the expertise to apply it as part of their offering to South African customers."
Gareth Trollip, Country Manager at Khipu Networks, also commented: "DNS security is crucial, and often neglected, when it comes to cyber security strategies. Our complete approach to cyber safety in partnership with EfficientIP will help many South African organisations deliver the required level protection and prevention against the diverse range of attacks."
To implement a strong network security strategy, integrated IP address management (IPAM) alongside DNS and DHCP is mandatory. Current customers of both partners have benefited from solutions that help to maintain central IPAM, DNS and DHCP services, monitor IP space, create policy-driven management, and efficiently support growth with deployment automation. One strategic customer, Nalin Uduwawala, IT Network Manager at WHS, noted the reasoning for selecting EfficientIP and Khipu Networks as a pair for their DDI solution: "We felt they were very established across key market sectors with strong references, and their overall level of professionalism was high. It was technically the best solution for us for consolidation of services, as well as the most cost-effective compared to other vendors."
