ICT industry female leaders looking to enter the Women in ICT competition will have to rush to submit their entries, as the closing date is 9 August at midnight.
Standard Bank, in partnership with the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, has announced it is looking for female leaders in ICT who are good-to-go to participate in a live pitching competition.
Standard Bank says “the competition seeks to open doors to future growth for women entrepreneurs”.
According to the bank, through the competition, women running their own IT companies have a chance to win development and funding support to the value of R300 000, access international and local markets, and an opportunity to break into the corporate world and win contracts with the potential to boost their firm’s development and growth.
Interested entrants, those personally involved on a full-time basis in the daily operations of their business, are asked to film a two-minute video explaining the issues their business addresses and how it could make a real difference to the community.
If the pitch makes the shortlist of five, each entrant will be invited to live pitch the business at the upcoming Women in ICT Summit event taking place in Johannesburg on 23 August.
The bank notes: “The objective of the Women in ICT competition and summit is to help entrepreneurs who need assistance in breaking through the glass ceiling that is preventing their businesses from growing into substantial enterprises. Inevitably, the major problem of achieving this breakthrough is that of meeting and developing partnerships with the country's major buyers of IT services, and specialist expertise.”
