BSNL mulls 3G outsourcing

Bharat Sanchar Nigram (BNSL), the state-owned Indian mobile network operator, plans to outsource its 3G services, writes TeleGeography.

The company believes the move would allow it to cut the investment needed to roll out the 3G-network as the company is already struggling financially.

BSNL is attempting to take a large portion of the 3G market before the first quarter of 2011. 'We expect 5% of our total user base to come from 3G. This figure might go up to 10% to 15% of our mobile customer base in the coming time,” says chairman and MD Kuldeep Goyal.

UK police to streamline IT outsourcing

IT outsourcing and procurement is to be streamlined at UK police forces, states iHotDesk.

The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) says it expects IT savings of £25 million in the coming year, with police forces sharing IT services such as HR and finance, which could be outsourced.

"Our challenge is to do more with less by being more intelligent and efficient in how we deliver policing services. Collaboration, sharing and central procurement will be the hallmarks of how the NPIA helps the police service to achieve significant savings in future," says CEO Peter Neyroud.

Aspire Outsourcing expands operations

Aspire Outsourcing has expanded its operations into Newcastle city centre after winning a contract to handle a telemarketing contract, writes NeBusiness.

The operation currently employs 20 staff, set to rise to 50 within a few months. Aspire Outsourcing is working for a major utility company in the UK.

“Difficulties in ensuring the existing sales channels are properly audited means utility companies are turning to call centres like ours for customer acquisitions. We will also be looking at telemarketing in other sectors such as retail,” says Aspire's MD, Andy Philips.
