Today, the traditional security perimeter has dissolved, primarily because of two changes within the enterprise, the rise of the mobile employee and the wide-scale adoption of cloud services.

This means security professionals can no longer take a threat-centric approach, but must be prepared to respond to and manage threats which could already be inside company networks. Security challenges are increasing exponentially, both in number and in difficulty, as companies embrace the cloud and third-party integration.

This is the topic that information security specialist Christo van Staden will be presenting at the upcoming ITWeb Security Summit 2018. He will be discussing the role people-centric security plays in protecting intellectual property and other valuable content in an age of data breach and constant threat evolution.

Van Staden will be delivering a paper titled: "Protecting the Human Point", which will introduce the following topics:

* How new risk-adaptive techniques can protect users and data;
* Using behavioural analytics to capture interactions between users and data everywhere;
* How understanding the context of actions can allow professionals to respond automatically to compromised, accidental and malicious behaviour; and
* Why dynamic risk scoring can allow security professionals to quickly respond to risk while maintaining optimum business efficiencies.

As Forcepoint's regional sales manager for sub-Saharan Africa, Van Staden has established himself as a strategic information security advisor. He specialises in the design, implementation and management of information security, risk and compliance solutions aligned to industry best practice, standards, regulation, legislation and enterprise control frameworks.

Van Staden is known for his comprehensive competence in consulting and technical aspects, accompanied by nearly 20 years of experience in delivering solutions to service providers and enterprises across multiple market and industry segments.

The ITWeb Security Summit is southern Africa's definitive conference and expo for information security, IT and business professionals. More than 70 expert speakers will be delivering key insights across seven tracks, including workshops and training courses during the expanded five-day event. It will be held at Vodacom World, Midrand, from 22-23 May 2018; and CTICC Cape Town on 29 May 2018.

Van Staden will be presenting: "Protecting the Human Point" at 3pm on Wednesday, 23 May at Vodacom World (Midrand), and at 5:25pm on Tuesday, 29 May at CTICC (Cape Town).
