Canon targets govt for growth

Canon is betting on government projects in India to drive its revenue growth, states India Today.

The company plans to introduce digital files; records and archives; and printing services, targeting 20% to 25% of its revenue to come from government projects.

Alok Bharadwaj, Canon senior vice-president, says the company is looking at new opportunities for growth, and that the government sector is one of the areas where there is tremendous scope.

HP eyes smartphone printing

HP is looking to smartphone users and the growing capability of printers to connect and interface with mobile phones via the Internet, writes Daily Nation.

Jaimi Cyrus, VP of HP's commercial channel, says although not all digital content is printable, HP expects printable content to grow four-fold in two years.

“The number of things people want to print is increasing,” says Cyrus. “Many are now saying they would want to be able to print from their smartphones.”

EFI acquires Radius Solutions

Digital printing company Electronics For Imaging (EFI) has acquired print MIS solutions for the packaging industry company Radius Solutions, says Market Watch.

Radius Solutions will become part of the advanced professional print software division of EFI, to integrate its products with the EFI product line.

The acquisition increases EFI's growing product portfolio of software tools, UV Inkjet digital presses and inks, and MIS solutions for the packaging market.
