3Com SA has introduced new series of enterprise solutions that adhere to demands of larger enterprises and their many users.
The company has enhanced its XRN (eXpandable Resilient Networking) technology to extend the benefits of high availability at a lower cost, across multiple building and geographically distributed sites.
The new enterprise solutions include an advanced modular chassis switch that enables organisations to scale up their networks with a resilient solution for converged networking of voice and data.
Says Chris van Niekerk, country manager of 3Com SA: "3Com is making major strides to strengthen its enterprise product portfolio. The scaling up of our XRN technology-enabled networks brings a new way of building LAN cores to SA`s larger enterprise market."
Adds Zeus Kerravala, vice-president, The Yankee Group: "Larger enterprise customers may get a complete enterprise LAN solution from 3Com at better price-performance than what they can get elsewhere.
"3Com`s push up into the enterprise core has an impact on the competitive landscape and offers customers a viable alternative. With tier-one credentials as a networking vendor, 3Com has a unique value proposition for large enterprises to obtain innovative, high-performance network solutions at a lower cost to acquire and manage."
3Com`s new modular Switch 7700, for example, is a high-performance Layer 3 LAN core switch, which enables companies to extend their connections across campuses and long distances - up to 70km.
In addition, the company has also expanded its 40x0 family with the new Switch 4070, an XRN technology-enabled switch that allow IT managers to dictate the mixture of 1000BASE SX and 1000BASE LX to meet their specific requirements, using SFP (Small Form-factor Plug-in) transceivers.
3Com have also announced plans for its Gigabit Ethernet switches to support the advanced routing protocol OSPF.
