Unisys Corporation today announced that it has framed a strategic partnership with Exult, Inc. a provider of eHR - web-enabled, integrated services designed to manage the human resources function for large, multinational corporations. Unisys will provide information technology services to support Exult`s clients. The two companies have also signed a letter of intent for Exult to provide HR process management, consulting and transaction services for Unisys and its employees.
As Exult`s IT infrastructure partner, Unisys will provide application hosting services and technical support services for the information systems that Exult employs to serve its clients. This will enable Exult to capitalize on and continue developing its core expertise in reengineering HR business processes to make clients more efficient.
In its proposed role as Unisys HR process management partner, Exult will implement best practices and its personalized self-service web portal to deliver improved HR services to up to 36,000 Unisys employees around the world. Both companies expect to reach a definitive agreement regarding service scope, pricing and other terms within the next 60 days.
"In an e-business-driven marketplace increasingly operating on Internet time, partnerships are critical," said Lawrence A. Weinbach, Unisys chairman and chief executive officer. "Companies need to capitalize on the strengths of expert partners to operate more efficiently and concentrate more fully on their strategic imperatives - transforming themselves to meet the challenges of the Internet economy, moving more quickly in the market, delivering better service to customers and creating additional value for stakeholders. By combining our respective strengths in IT services and HR process management, Unisys and Exult are taking a major step forward in achieving those objectives."
Jim Madden, chairman, president and CEO of Exult, said, "We are very pleased to enter this synergistic and mutually beneficial relationship with Unisys. Just as Unisys IT outsourcing services will help Exult serve our clients and grow our business, we expect that our process management services will significantly help Unisys further its position as an employer of choice in the IT industry. We look forward to helping Unisys maximize its investment in its people and provide a richer variety of employee services."
Leveraging Unisys IT Management Expertise Extends Exult`s Operational Capabilities Through its world-class Outsourcing Service Center in Eagan, Minn., Unisys will provide application hosting services that enable Exult and its clients to benefit from an enterprise-class e-business environment and technical support services.
The Unisys e-@ction Outsourcing Solutions will enable development of a solid security infrastructure to ensure the privacy and security of client information; system linking capabilities to support the production environment in the event of a production server failure; and disaster recovery to keep critical applications, such as payroll, fully operational.
The Unisys Outsourcing Solutions put in place an IT infrastructure that is not only secure and scalable, but also allows predictability of future costs, an important tool for Exult to gauge new business initiatives.
Exult HR Services to Enhance Unisys Employee Services Under the proposed relationship, Exult will assume responsibility for redesigning and managing a number of Unisys HR processes and services, while leveraging the significant investment Unisys has already made in web-enabling HR functions.
"Unisys has created a global HR organization that is known for innovation," said David O. Aker, Unisys senior vice president, Worldwide Human Resources. "We have been early adopters and exploiters of cutting-edge technology in key HR areas, including our global rollout of the PeopleSoft HR system, employee self service via the Web and our establishment of Unisys University for comprehensive employee training and skills development. Through our relationship with Exult, Unisys has an opportunity to extend that leadership and provide even more value to our employees."
When the agreement is completed, Unisys will join Exult`s existing multi-million dollar, multi-year business process management clients BP Amoco, Tenneco Automotive and Pactiv Corporation.
