Chris Lazarus has been appointed as managing executive of business solutions at Vodacom Business.

Replacing Ermano Quartero, Lazarus will report directly to the enterprise chief officer, with Quartero's new role yet to be revealed by Vodacom Business.

Lazarus and Quartero will work closely for the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.

With experience spanning over a decade in the telecoms industry, Lazarus previously worked as head of content solutions for I-Net Bridge and was also marketing manager at Intekom.

Joining Vodacom in 2005 as executive head for corporate solutions, he managed all customer segments including large corporates, small and medium enterprises and public sector accounts.

As managing executive for public sector accounts between 2009 and 2011, he established this division and increased its revenue from R200 million to just under R1 billion in two years.

In 2011, Lazarus became managing executive for product and services, managing the enterprise business product suite. Two years later, he was asked to start the emerging markets division, focusing on building an alternate distribution strategy for the consumer business.

Vodacom appointed Lazarus as its managing executive for its Limpopo division in 2015, following a stint in a similar position in Gauteng the previous year.

Lazarus holds an MBA from Henley Management College in the UK and completed an executive development programme from Unisa.
