Business offers to help national planning commission (NPC)

Johannesburg, 06 Nov 2015

IQ Business are at the forefront of a campaign to get SA business leaders to square up to the public debate and to actively take some responsibility themselves for creating growth in South Africa.

Adding substance to the rhetoric, we have today, at our Activate Growth Conference in Cape Town, announced an offer we have made to Minister Jeff Radebe and the National Planning Commission.

We agree with the aims and tenets of the National Development Plan (NDP). We do not, however, think it is being delivered and managed effectively. So instead of pointing fingers from the sidelines, we have offered to present the latest world-class project management approach at the NPC's November lekgotla, scheduled to discuss the implementation of the NDP.

At the heart of this offer is a belief that the NDP can actually deliver growth - if run along business principles. Basically, it's about business focusing on making a real contribution.

We are looking forward to hearing back from Minister Radebe.
