For the second year in a row, the international Digital Skills Academy has partnered with Brainstorm magazine to offer a US$10 000 bursary for one Brainstorm reader.

The competition, first launched in November 2016, is open to working professionals employed in companies in South Africa, with a particular focus in financial services, telecommunications, professional services, and ICT / technology consulting and services. The selection process is based on merit and potential and the winner will secure a place on one of Digital Skills Academy's highly acclaimed International BSc Degree programmes in Digital Skills.

Last year's winner, 31-year-old Standard Bank Technical Business Analyst Themba Tshamano said he expected Digital Skills Academy to help him fast track his career progress. Tshamano had already planned to enroll for a BSc Computer Science degree when he won the award to join Digital Skills Academy's International BSc Degree. "What is particularly exciting for me is the course's focus on practical implementations, innovation and entrepreneurship. These are all areas I feel will help me develop as a well-rounded professional who can deliver real value to the company I work for," said Tshamano after winning the Digital Talent Bursary.

Following the high level of interest shown by Brainstorm readers in the first competition, Digital Skills Academy and Brainstorm are offering another bursary for the March 2018 intake.

Commenting on the bursary competition, Paul Dunne, CEO and Founder of Digital Skills Academy, says: "As a leading international provider of online degrees and CPD programmes for working professionals, we have clear synergies with Brainstorm magazine and are proud to renew our partnership with the publication of choice for CIOs and IT executives in South Africa. This bursary is designed to reward a high potential ICT professional with a valuable opportunity to enhance his or her digital skills and with long-term benefits for both the professional and the company they work for," says Dunne.

"ITWeb Brainstorm, as an authoritative voice in the South African technology sector, plays an important role in preparing the next generation of IT leaders to take on the challenges of our ever-expanding digital economy. This is why we're very pleased to partner with the Digital Skills Academy, whose learning-by-doing methodology is designed to help working ICT professionals build capacity immediately applicable to their company's operations," said Ranka Jovanovic, Editorial Director of ITWeb and Brainstorm magazine.

Applications are now open at https://digitalskillsacademy.com/digital-talent-bursary and the closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 7 January 2018.
