An ITWeb survey on the state of POPIA readiness, being conducted in partnership with Iron Mountain, has gone live on ITWeb. The objective of the survey is to find out the current state of South African businesses’ POPIA compliance readiness.

Kevin Akaloo, South Africa’s national head of sales –  private and public sector – for Iron Mountain, says, “With just over a month before POPIA becomes effective, there is a sense that many companies are yet to be compliant from a technological, governance and processing of information perspective.”

The survey aims to examine and gain insights into how South African companies approach Records and Information Management (RIM) and Information Governance in light of POPIA. He continues, “We will be able to use this data to help companies and/or organisations gauge their readiness ahead of the end of the grace period.”

The survey asks how well prepared organisations are for POPIA compliance, as well as how familiar decision-makers and staff are with POPIA requirements.

In this survey, we examine, among other things:

  1. What are your concerns regarding data management aligned to POPIA?
  2. Which department in your organisation has overall responsibility for complying with the POPIA?
  3. Is your organisation embracing the POPI regulations in order to build customer trust?

We hope you’ll be able set aside a few minutes of your time to participate in the POPIA Readiness Survey, and stand a chance to win a lucky draw prize, a Takealot voucher for the amount of R4 000. Participants can opt in to receive a copy of a record retention guide, which will assist with POPIA compliance.

The detailed results of the survey, and the prize winner, will be published on ITWeb.
