Ernst & Young recognised among the best

Johannesburg, 23 Oct 2000

In a gratifying moment of recognition that re-enforces Ernst & Young`s tenet that its people are its most valuable asset, the South African arm of this global leader has been recognised as one of the best companies to work for in South Africa.

Listed as a winning company to work for in the recent edition of "The Best Companies to Work for in South Africa", Ernst & Young is highly rated in the categories of salary and benefits, profit sharing and/or other incentives, internal promotional mobility and education, training and development.

Compiled by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF) - an independent organisation that initiates, co-ordinates and delivers international business research around the world - "The Best Companies to Work For " publication is widely respected in corporate South Africa and has achieved best seller status since its inception two years ago.

The selection process is strenuous and only `top notch` companies committed not only to overall excellence and innovation but also to the development and well-being of their staff, make the grade. A clear indication of this is the fact that Ernst & Young is among one of only four business assurance and advisory services and management consulting firms to be featured in the book as a `great place to work and to stay`!

Only two of these professional services firms provide auditing as a service offering to clients (as is the case with Ernst & Young).

This recognition is in line with Ernst & Young`s international achievements -where the company has been voted as one of the best companies for working mothers for four years in a row in "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" and as one of the top 25 companies that MBA graduates aspire to work for.

"Ernst & Young believes in investing in its human capital and actively seeks to be associated with people who embrace innovative and enlightened business thinking - taking concept from `thought to finish`. This honour not only celebrates those dynamic people, but also our firm`s belief in winning through leadership. We believe we`re a winning firm for winning people and being recognised as one of the best companies to work for in South Africa certainly pays tribute to that." Says Andre Oldknow, Human Resources Director.
