Intel supplies Google storage

Intel is working its close ties to Google for solid state storage drive (SSD) sales, says The Register.

Sources have told Digitimes that Google plans to test out SSD storage in an effort to lower power consumption at its vast data centres.

The search engine will turn to Intel for the SSD gear. And, if true, that's great news for Intel, which hopes to make a run at turning SSDs into a big business.

Raj Das joins Hitachi

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has appointed Raj Das to senior VP of worldwide marketing, according to Business Wire.

In his new role, Das will be responsible for worldwide product planning and strategy, positioning, promotion and fulfilment.

Das has nearly two decades of experience leading product planning and marketing organisations in the storage industry.

Iron Mountain buys DocuVault

Iron Mountain has acquired the privately owned DocuVault companies for an undisclosed amount, says Boston.com.

Iron Mountain is a Boston company specialising in information protection and storage services. DocuVault is a records management and information destruction company in Colorado.

As a result of the acquisition, Iron Mountain said it gains two records storage facilities and a secure shredding plant, increasing Iron Mountain's capacity for storing and destroying records in Colorado.
