The Innovation Hub has decided to provide free registration for the 2019 International Association of Science Parks (IASP) Africa Division Workshop.

It is taking place on 23 and 24 May, in Tshwane.

"The Innovation Hub has been overwhelmed by requests for attendance by entrepreneurs, students, IT professionals and other key stakeholders," says head of marketing and communications Matona Ntshona Sakupwanya.

"However, the challenge was that many of these attendees are young entrepreneurs or students that could not afford the fee, but so desperately want the knowledge and skills the workshop has on offer.

"Through this workshop, The Innovation Hub further strengthens its position in the role it plays in creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurs and stakeholders in the technology and innovation space to thrive."

The workshop is part of a series of build-up events taking place globally leading to the main IASP Conference, to be hosted from 23 to 29 September, in Nantes, France.

The IASP is the worldwide network of science parks and areas of innovation, with over 388 members in 77 countries representing numerous sectors from seven regional divisions, including Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America, West Asia and North Africa.

The workshop will bring together professionals, leaders, experts from science and technology parks, areas of innovation and technology-based incubators, academia, the public and private sectors.

The main objective of the workshop is to challenge practitioners from the continent to consider the economic development capacity of science and technology parks and areas of innovation in Africa.
