Delivering the roadmap to future cloud communications

Cape Town, 15 Aug 2018

It is a fact that the economy is as constrained as it has been in many years, and for the smaller business, this creates a challenge around keeping its communications infrastructure current. The investment required to implement and maintain quality communications for an organisation is considerable, yet the speed at which technology is evolving means these organisations are often left feeling they have no option but to consistently spend money in order to keep up to date.

Fortunately, this is not the case, says Grant Broomhall, MD of Far South Networks, a company with a highly regarded reputation as a local designer and manufacturer of next-generation IP telephony platforms.

"Far South Networks is able to provide the services a customer's business requires, as they are needed, without the client needing to rip and replace their entire existing communications infrastructure," he states.

"Basically, instead of throwing out your existing physical infrastructure for a cloud-based option, we can install a simple SIP gateway that will allow your business to continue using its legacy PBX. Going forward, however, the same product can easily deliver a rich set of new mobility and unified communications features."

Unlike most cloud PBXes, he explains, which typically require a complete refurbishment of existing PBXes and phones, Far South Networks offers clients a solution that allows them to re-use their existing infrastructure, instead of having to replace it immediately.

"In fact, certain hosted PBX implementations still require a router and SIP gateway for redundant connectivity, so you may have to install one anyway. Moreover, with a single capital investment in the Wanderbox SIP Gateway from Far South Networks, you not only get access to voice over IP (VOIP), telecoms and fixed mobile (LTE-A) failover, but also access to a call recording facility, which in turn allows you to maintain your compliance in terms of laws like POPI, the GDPR and FICA, for example.

"There can be no doubt that regulatory compliance is a major concern for businesses of all sizes, and with the 'cloud-based' Atmos Call Recording solution linked to any Far South Networks device, you are provided with a fully compliant call recording and quality management solution, as a service."

In effect, what Far South Networks is offering to customers here is a true roadmap that will allow them to keep up with technological changes as they occur, without having to blow their budget to do so. Not only does the SIP gateway offer the benefits outlined, he continues, but with the simple addition of a PBX software licence, customers can also gain access to rich PBX services, such as music on hold, conferencing, auto-attendant, queues, hot-desking and voicemail to e-mail.

"The Wanderbox device offers a truly scalable solution, managing security, voice and data services with telco, IP and fixed mobile connections to businesses ranging from five to 50 business users.

Wanderbox links seamlessly to Wanderweb, a cloud service providing UC services, which can significantly improve your company's efficiencies and productivity levels, and mobility, which enables bring your own device (BYOD), allowing employees to use personal devices to connect with the business from anywhere in the world.

Finally, businesses wishing to run enhanced customer service levels within their service centres (sales, accounts, technical) can turn on a cloud-based call centre platform, delivering real-time analytics and detailed reporting functions to each service centre administrator.

"The Far South Networks solution is designed to offer customers an ideal roadmap to the future of cloud communications, enabling those with legacy communications systems to move forward, at their own pace, without the massive financial impact of huge additional spend.

"This really is a win-win situation for the customer, who eliminates the need to rip and replace existing infrastructure, while at the same time gaining access to the kind of rich new features that would have been the main goal of implementing a hosted system in the first place," concludes Broomhall.
